(3Ders.org) Australia is launching the Additive Manufacturing Hub in a bid to increase collaboration in the industry to save Australian manufacturing. Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited (AMTIL), based in Melbourne Australia, will officially launch the Additive Manufacturing Hub later this week. AMTIL applied a funding application from the federal government for a co-operative research centre (CRC) focussed on additive manufacturing. A primary aim of the new hub would be to seek investment in research and to create a network to take advantage of these opportunities. AMTIL chief executive Shane Infanti has proposed to develop a strategic plan for the next two to five years on what needs to be done to revive manufacturing in Australia and stay globally competitive with 3D printing.
